Rosta's Roast is a hometown coffee house located just off of Route 183 between Carrollton and Canton in Ohio at 203 Carrollton St. in Malvern. Customers can stop in to order their favorite brew to go or relax in a large easy chair. We're also a roastery, offering custom roasted coffees through our web site without losing the charm of a small comfortable gathering spot to unwind surrounded in the aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans.
Being avid coffee drinkers ourselves, we realize that environment is critical. Most shops have a surrounding that is conducive to rapid fire service and outside of soothing music, they have missed the bean roasting experience entirely. Not at Rosta's Roast. Our store invites our customers to stay and relax with a hot cup of their favorite espresso blend. While waiting for those fresh roasted beans to drop out of our state of the art roaster into an opaque polymer lined bag and into their house within minutes.
ROASTING INFORMATION
All beans are roasted on site, usually every Saturday, to a rich French roast unless otherwise labeled. This produces a richer heavier flavor.

ROASTING THE BEAN
Green unroasted coffee in a humidity and temperature controlled environment is considered “shelf stable” and will last for over a year. The clock starts ticking once high grade beans are roasted and should be consumed within 7-14 days. We suggest buying only what can be consumed in this time period. If not stored properly, the bean deteriorates, affecting the flavor. Coffee should be stored in a dark, airtight container, but not refrigerated as some believe.During the roasting process, green coffee undergoes chemical reaction. The dark distinctive colors of the roasted bean are produced when the sugars within the bean are caramelized. Volatile, water-soluble oils are released and rise to the surface of the roasted bean in the darker stages of a roast. This is recognized in the oily, dark “French” roasts. The natural acidity in the bean is also subdued. This produces a heavier, richer flavor. Roasted dark enough to bring out the hidden nuances and flavors of each bean but not produce a carbony flavor.
We generally subscribe to three different roasts. They are as follows:
| Roast | Color |
Bean Surface |
| Full City Roast | brown | hint of oil |
| French Roast | deep brown | oily |
| Italian (Espresso) Roast | very dark brown/black | very oily, shiny |
We have an open shop and generally roast our beans on the weekends. If you are interested in seeing this process, you are welcome to come and watch. This also gives you the opportunity to taste one of our roasts first hand and decide for yourself which would best suit your palate.
BREWING THE PERFECT CUP OF COFFEE
Before starting, please be sure that all of your equipment is clean. We suggest grinding the beans one pot at a time if possible. We also suggest that coffee is brewed using two tablespoonfuls of ground coffee per cup (This may be adjusted to taste). When brewing, always use cold, filtered tap water. Coffee is 98-99% water, so using good water is important for good taste. After brewing, do not leave coffee on the burner. We suggest using an airpot or thermal carafe to maintain heat. This suggested home brewing process best replicates how coffee is brewed at the Roast. We hope that you enjoy your coffee as much as we do.OUR CUSTOMERS
